Sure, it's fun to get spooky for Halloween, but it can be just as fun to be sweet and silly! As you can imagine, all the members of the Teaching Tote team are big fans of children's books. Therefore, our kids have favorite literary characters of their own and have dressed up as them over the years. Here are a few great book character costume ideas from the team (and a few bonus ones from our pals) for you if your little one is still trying to figure out what to be this year! The book character costume ideas will make life easier for you- just like a Teaching Tote!

We KNOW we missed some great ones!! Please, tell us more. Which book characters have you or your child trick-or-treated as in years past? Have a happy and safe Halloween!
Love this! We’ve had Reynie Muldoon from The Mysterious Benedict Society and Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolaye Factory before! Our girls are doing Winnie the Pooh and Piglet this year, though admittedly they love the movies more than the books :).
Love these ideas!
Love these ideas! As a teacher, I’m always looking for creative ways to participate in school spirit days and dress my own children!
My son went as the tree from Chicka Chicka Boom Boom one year! It was adorable!! Love all of these, too!!
